Disclaimer...

By no means do any of us know everything there is to know about pregnancy, labor, and child rearing. Particularly with pregnancy and labor there were things My husband and I really wished people would have told us, had been published, or had been stated during the birthing class/tour. For us even though it has only been a short time; this blog will serve our experience, opinions, and findings to share with others who may be looking for information. I am not going to censor the content; so it might get icky and gross.. but if you have children.. poop, piss, puke, blood and other various substances should not surprise you. They are 'part' of the experience known as life.

Please also feel free to comment :D

Professional Photos

One of my regrets with my little one is not having newborn photos.... Yes I take a ton of photos and I have some skills with the camera... but someone being able to take a photo with your family and your baby all together, is very nice.

In the photography department we started at the 6 month marker.
My biggest 'need' was getting a photo with the family dog Shamus.  Shamus is 13 years old and I really wanted to get that photo taken.  With loved ones (pets included) moments and ages do not last forever.  Photos are a little way of preserving what good memories and feelings we have for our loved ones.  In respect to children.. well we all know 'they grow up too fast..' I personally, learning from my regrets; am going to have photos taken at each major age milestone.  Our next shoot is this month for 9 months.  Then we are going to do a 12, 18, and every year after.

The photographer I chose came highly recommended by many of my friends.
  Here are some of the things I looked for in selecting the photographer;

1.  Good work with children/infants
2.  Recommendations
3. Quality
4. Variety
5. Price

I am sure I will be posting more soon :D

Diapers....

Is it just me or are all brands wayyy different? I am also noticing that the weight sizing is not quite in context with my little one.. Buying diapers to be is seeming like purchasing a pair of ladies jeans...  But unlike the jeans problem I have; fortunately GSM seems to be fitting into the cheaper brands! YEA! for thrifty.  Currently he is also between sizes..  We have tried all sorts of brands; pampers, huggies, target, kroger value, and loves.
So far target and pampers fit the best.   Which is fine because the target diapers are only about 7 bucks for a pack of 50!

We have not yet had the pleasure of the poo coming out the sides or top.. however pee has came out the top.
We deducted that this was because either the diaper was too big.. or not fastened securely.

Baby Registry...

In my experiences having baby showers and going to many the truth is..  A lot of people will not get the exact items on your registry...   Most of the time they will look at it and get you the 'better' version. With my showers I got a lot of very thoughtful hand made items.. Which is just awesome!

Do not be offended! They are being genuine and trying to help! Ladies with babies have experience with babies and have probably tried out a few products or two.. so If they suggest or get you something similar, different, or additional to your registry chances are you will use it and need it at some point in the first year.
But with that being said I am a little bit of a research nut.  I researched hundreds of products looking at safety information

So do not panic if you do not get everything you need from a baby shower.. You will probably get lots of VERY cute outfits.. Why? Because who does not like to buy baby clothes! They are all so cute!

With that being said... there ARE specific items you will need

Our Top 5 Items are....

1. Diapers (we went through 110 in the first week)
But... keep in mind our baby does not like a spec of poop or pee on him at all.

2.  Receiving Blankets
We ended up with 20.. and that seems like just about enough.. but we do not do laundry every day.

3.  Towels
Baby towels or big towels
I use a big towel to put under the baby when I breastfeed. We get MESSY!

4. Seasonably/Temperature Appropriate Baby Attire
I personally love love love the fleece sleeper sacks and since it is currently winter (depending on the day) here they work fantastically! I did do some research on SIDS, and one of the factors is blankets.  So my thought process is put the Baby in something that is comfy. This way they do not need a blanket to sleep.

5.  Desitin
Ahhh ass rash cream... Seriously we put this on every diaper change..
